August 28 - Sara C.

I remember praying for the salvation of my grandparents since I was a little girl. My parents and I would often share the gospel message with them, but they were often indifferent. We lost them both this past year within 8 months of each other, and praise God that they both gave us hope in their final days. My grandma shook her head "yes" and in her very weakened state was able to say, "Come my heart."

My grandpa's story is more miraculous. He has had advanced dementia for a few years. He stopped speaking in sentences, he couldn't make his own sandwich, needed help getting dressed, couldn't remember where he lived. At doctor's appointments, he couldn't remember a list of 3 words a minute after he was asked to repeat it.

A week before he passed, my mom tried sharing the gospel again. When she was done, he prayed this prayer completely on his own:

"I'm sorry for my sins
Please forgive me
Come into my heart
Please help me, and I help you"

Although we don't know their hearts 100%, it's such a joy and comfort to have that hope that they are in heaven and that we'll see them again.
