March 31 - Dan Finney

While on Spring Break in Arizona I was marveling at the amazing diversity and beauty of God's handiwork in the desert and thought of Psalm 40:5. I was also keenly aware of the fascinating geology that defies evolutionary models, huge boulders sitting on top of other boulders in the middle of plains areas, and more. Then during the last ride of our visit we pulled the bikes off the trail to hydrate and enjoy some fruit. That's when it hit me.

My sister had brought several types of fruit (Apple, Orange, Banana, & Blueberries). When she laid them out it just struck me how "finely tuned" the food we eat is - PERFECTLY suited for humans! This is so fundamental yet so powerful. I started thinking about many of the staple foods we eat. Consider the size of your average apple, pear, peach, orange, banana, potato, sweet potato, onion, carrot, etc. Yes, you have others of varying size but I was thinking about that too... smaller fruits and vegetables generally have higher levels of certain nutrients, antioxidants, etc. or like grapes, grow in clusters easy for humans to hold a portion size in their hand. Other larger foods are perfect for family meals, etc. Then I started thinking about the wonderful diversity of shapes and colors. This alone should inform people that NONE of that would or could possibly happen by any process of coincidence, chance, or evolution (It is IMPOSSIBLE x IMPOSSIBLE x IMPOSSIBLE). But then it got even better - I remembered reading about how many fruits and vegetables are not only shaped like parts of the human body but have been proven to be particularly beneficial to those organs/body parts! You can google many articles like this one - http://blog.bartonpublishing.com/gods-pharmacy-foods-that-resemble-the-body-parts-they-help/

I have always appreciated and given thanks for the wonderful foods we have so how could I have missed the "forest for the trees" like this? Creation is crying out "Glory to God Almighty" ALL AROUND us. Can you imagine the top Atheists/Evolutionists in a debate trying to give any rational or coherent argument that would explain these FUNDAMENTAL aspects of our food from an "evolutionary" or atheistic view? And how about the aspect of beauty (Zero evolutionary purpose/function) rather, suited for our senses to APPRECIATE? And still we are not done with the extent to which God went to show himself to us (Romans 1:20) and bless us through the foods He created - TASTE!

This was such a wonderful God Moment for me sitting there in the desert sharing my thoughts and feeling closer to God by having a greater appreciation for how much he has done for us and how near he is to each one of us.
