Ex 23:14-25:40 | PS 30 | Prov 7:24-27 | Matt 24:29-51

We live at an interesting time. Basically anything can be spun by the media and by people to distort truth. In fact, many like to believe there is really no such thing as real or absolute truth, stating it is your version of truth that matters. Add to this a completely self-centered, carnal generation who would do anything to extend their lives, get their next meal, etc, and we find ourselves where we are now. Many are waiting for that “Aha” moment, when truth is finally revealed. Sorry, I don’t think that is going to happen. I recently saw the movie “Left Behind” with Kevin Sorbo, and in it they showed how they will even spin the massive vanishing of a tremendous number of people in the Rapture.

With this in mind, we read in Matthew 24:29-31, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” This supernatural event, the second coming of Christ, will not be able to be explained away or spun. But, sadly, it will also be too late. When Jesus returns at His second coming, judgment has already been sealed for both sides. That “Aha” moment will come when it is too late to do anything about it. There will be no “do-overs”. At this moment, “I’m sorry” will be too late.

So we can continue on with the “Let them eat cake mentality”. Understand God is speaking and He is moving, but are we listening? Have we allowed the distractions and the lies to cloud us from the truth. Jesus gives an excellent illustration of this in Matthew 24:37-39, “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” It was too late for the people in Noah’s day, it will be too late when Jesus returns at His second coming . It is our job, our purpose to maintain our readiness and emphasize this to others, as Jesus said in 24:44, “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
