Gen 5-7 | PS 3:1-8 | Prov 1:10-19 | Matt 3:7-4:11

Ray Kurzweil, author and director of engineering for Google said, “we are slowly merging with our technology, that we are becoming transhuman, with updated abilities, including enhanced intelligence, strength, and awareness.” Human 2.0 is what it is being called. Recently a patient of mine asked if she should pay a little extra at her radiology group to have her mammogram read by AI. Increasingly, to keep up with the competition people are turning to AI in the business world. Sadly, there is even now an AI Jesus, where people will be directing their theological questions to. Elon Musk is developing Neuralink which will combine human brains to computers. Yuval Noah Harari, author and influential member of the World Economic Forum said, “We are really acquiring divine powers of creation and destruction. We are really upgrading humans into gods. We are acquiring, for example, the power to re-engineer life.” He sees no reason for Jesus, and feels that this technology will change what it means to be human, and will achieve immortality. You might wonder why I’m mentioning all of this. It is because altering what it means to be human has been tried once before and it turned out disastrous.

We read of this event in Genesis 6:2-5, “The sons of God saw the beautiful women and took any they wanted as their wives. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.” In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times. The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.“ This trial of altering was not conjured up in a lab, but was the result of the sons of God (angelic beings) having relations with woman, creating Nephilim or half-breeds as a result. From all of humanity, only Noah and his family were saved, as we read in 6:11-13, “Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt. So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!”

Many like to state, “There has always been evil”, or “it’s not much different than other dark times in history”. I disagree. These times have only one other precedent and it resulted in a world-wide flood with the death of everything which breathes, except for those few preserved on the ark. Morally we have hit all time lows. If you read Romans 1:18-32, it is a map of progression which begins with the lie of evolution, to the sexual revolution, to the LGBTQ explosion, which brings us to the last phase, which is seen 1:18 & 28, “But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness…Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.” Suppressing the truth and embarking on things which should be unthinkable. Yes, it seems that we are in the “Days of Noah” as discussed by Jesus in Matthew 24:36-44. What is there to do? Seek Jesus fervently during these dark times, and be His ambassador. We need to have the gospel message along with our testimony on our lips, ready and willing to dispense it to any that might have ears to hear.
