Jer 51:1-53 | PS 99:1-9 | Prov 26:17 | Titus 2:1-15

Throughout the messages through God’s prophets there were warnings of judgment against various nations and empires. Now these were actual nations which when looked at through the lens of history were all fulfilled with razor sharp accuracy. These are the near fulfillments. But inherent in these prophecies are many far predictions yet to take place. The problem is people like to debate over the trees while missing the entire forest. Prophecy is not simply of historic interest, and certainly not meant to intellectualize. In fact there is a good chance if we lined up all these prophecies we would all disagree on some of our interpretations, and that is okay. Here is the reality, judgment is coming. Our nation and our world are deserving of this judgment. With so many prophecies fulfilled we seem on the precipice. Where is our urgency in warning the world? What are we waiting for? Debating the finer points only muddies the big picture.

We read in Jeremiah 51:5-6, “For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, By his God, the Lord of hosts, Though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.” Flee from the midst of Babylon, And every one save his life! Do not be cut off in her iniquity, For this is the time of the Lord’s vengeance; He shall recompense her.” This certainly had near implications, but whenever we see God’s vengeance, we can’t miss the far implications, as God’s wrath or vengeance will be poured out during the 7 year tribulation. Will future Babylon literally be where the former Babylon was? I believe so, but I know many whom I respect who disagree. Will the United States be a factor then? I don’t think so, but many whom I respect disagree. Who will be the Antichrist and False Prophet? There are plenty of candidates, but why would I waste a second debating this?

What I know is stated beautifully in Titus 2:11-14, “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” The world as we know it, with the sin literally oozing from every pore of society will be judged. It doesn’t matter who you are, how well you have prepared, or how deep your bunker might be. Judgment is coming. Even if you find a way to hide deep enough to miss all the bombs, read soberly Matthew 25:31-46, as Jesus comes back to judge the nations. No individual will be able to hide. The goats may have hidden, but they won’t be able to hide from the Lion of Judah. Seminaries are destroying so many people. Pride and intellect all too often distort the only message that counts. Judgment is coming and salvation is found only in the blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Savior. Hallelujah, what a Savior!
